Yessiow
Yessi Nur Mulianawati a.k.a Yessiow is an illustrator and mural artist from Bali, Indonesia. Her love of art started around the age of 5 and it developed into a sprouting career as a mural artist in 2013 at the age of 17. One year later she started her graphic design studies at Telkom University in Bandung, Indonesia where she graduated in 2018. After graduation, she decided to step out of her comfort zone and live a nomad lifestyle abroad together with her partner Stijn. During their time of travel, Yessiow introduced him to painting murals and they have been taking advantage of the available opportunities to build a street art career outside of Indonesia, while also working as a freelance digital illustrator online. Murals they have worked on together can be found in several countries, such as Indonesia, Cambodia, Nepal, India, Turkey, South Africa and Italy. Yessiow’s work is heavily influenced by a love of natural objects and bright colours, no doubt brought about by growing up on a tropical island. She loves to see her work in public spaces become part of the daily life of the local community, immersed in the activities of the people who pass by every day.
YESSIOW was part of the selection during our call for mural interventions and painted a mural in the Nau Bostik in September 2022.
