EXPOSICIÓN GIANTS POR DUNJA JANKOVIC

La nova exposició de Dunja Jankovic “GIANTS” s'emmarca, dins de la curaduría B-Murals, en una sèrie d'exposicions - instal·lacions dedicades a artistes que utilitzen el carrer o el llenç com el seu mitjà principal. El seu propòsit és oferir un marc adaptat per a la creació d'instal·lacions immersives agafant les seves arrels en l'art urbà contemporani.

Després de la inèdita instal·lació de l'any passat "EnTrance" creada per Kenor i Mina Hamada, aquesta sèrie d'exposicions immersives en B-Murals continua oferint l'oportunitat de convidar a artistes urbans i contemporanis a enfrontar un desafiament que els permet expandir el seu art per tot l'espai d'una galeria.

GIANTS és una proposta que et submergirà en un espai com la nau de B-Murals, que té una altura de 7 metres, on podràs caminar entre gegants construïts amb geometria.

Dunja Jankovic's new exhibition, "GIANTS," is part of the B-Murals curation, a series of exhibitions/installations dedicated to artists who primarily utilize the street or canvas as their main medium. Its purpose is to provide an adapted framework for the creation of immersive installations rooted in contemporary urban art.

Following last year's unprecedented "EnTrance" installation by Kenor and Mina Hamada, this series of immersive exhibitions at B-Murals provides an opportunity to continue inviting urban and contemporary artists to undertake a challenge that allows their art to expand throughout the entire volume of a gallery space.

GIANTS is a proposal that will immerse you in a space like the B-Murals’, which is 7 metres high, where you will be able to walk among giants built with geometry.

Ja sigui treballant a l'ordinador, amb les mans o al carrer, Dunja descriu les seves peces finals com a casualitats afortunades que succeeixen mentre juga. Tot i que el seu procés artístic pot durar llargues hores, el resultat final emergeix ràpidament, gairebé com a una epifania.

La present instal·lació dona monumentalitat a aquests ràpids descobriments, ja que el resultat final, les "epifanies" de Dunja, estan conquerint un espai central i importància en el procés.

GIANTS és l'intent de l'artista d'alliberar-se del confinament de l'escala. Utilitza un mètode de serigrafia per crear "maons" de patrons, els retalla, els uneix en formes i fons i construeix una composició de proporcions gegantines.

La seva estètica és el diàleg entre l'equilibri i l'harmonia, l'estructura i el desordre.

Sovint, Jankovic representa la música o el soroll fent servir el ritme visual com la repetició i la variació: les coses es mouen, salten i creixen davant dels ulls de l'espectador o simplement flueixen dempeus en un lloc. Les superfícies planes semblen vibrar o sobresortir com relleus fora del seu pla 2D. La dualitat és present fins i tot en els punts de vista: les obres es poden observar des de lluny o de prop: submergint-se en els detalls del patró fins a l'últim píxel.

GIANTS són els porters de l'espai. L'emmarquen i el divideixen amb la seva presència monumental, gairebé bloquejant el pas, obligant l'espectador a aturar-se davant seu i mirar cap amunt. Serveixen com a portals que gairebé es podrien moure, però mai no ho faran.

Whether working on a computer, with her hands or on the street, Dunja describes her final pieces as lucky coincidences that happen while playing around. While her artistic process can last long hours, the final result emerges fast, almost like an epiphany.

This installation gives monumentality to these fast discoveries as the final result, Dunja’s “epiphanies”, are conquering a central space and importance in the process.

The Giants are the artist’s attempt to break free from the confinement of scale. She uses a screen printing method to create “bricks” of patterns, cuts them out, assembles them into shapes and backgrounds and constructs a composition of gigantic proportions.
Her aesthetics are balancing between balance and harmony, structure and disorder. Often, Jankovic depicts music or noise by using visual rhythm such as repetition and variation: things move, jump and grow in front of the spectator’s eyes or simply flow standing in one spot. Flat surfaces seem to be vibrating or protruding like reliefs out of their 2D plane.

The duality is present even in the points of view: the works can be observed from a distance or up-close: diving into the details of the pattern until the very last pixel.

The Giants are the gatekeepers of the space. They frame and divide it with their monumental presence, almost blocking the way, forcing the viewer to stop in front of them and look up. They serve like portals that could almost move but never will.
