Azpeger es el artista originario de Riobamba, Ecuador, que entró en el estudio de B-Murals con un proyecto de residencia de dos meses. “ZURCIREMOS” es una propuesta de investigación-creación alrededor de los vínculos afectivos de una comunidad determinada. Estudiar, trabajar y visibilizar los enlaces en base a la creación y al arte.

Azpeger is the artist from Riobamba, Ecuador, who entered the B-Murals studio with a two-month residency project.
"ZURCIREMOS" is a research-creation approach to the affective ties of a community. The aim is to study, develop and make visible the emotional bonds through creation and art.

En una comunidad ¿cuán estrechos son los vínculos afectivos, sus estilos de vida, los cruces generacionales, las relaciones con la naturaleza y la tecnología, la apreciación del arte y sus valores estéticos? ¿Es posible incidir en los espacios que co-habitamos a partir de una revisión de estos aspectos? ¿zurcirnos en esa trama cultural abstracta que nos atraviesa?
ZURCIREMOS es una propuesta que busca imaginar-crear con los vecinos de Nau Bostik un horizonte visual propio; atravesado por los diálogos sobre la memoria común, los encuentros con las singularidades de sus habitantes y con las imágenes que hacen de sí mismos, tanto individual como colectivamente.

Durante su residencia en Barcelona, para la creación del pop-up show Zurciremos, el artista ha trabajado sobre todo con el uso de retratos 3D de personas de su entorno. Lo que, en un principio fue una propuesta espontánea, terminó por relacionarlo con la práctica ancestral de la cultura Shuar de Ecuador; una tradición en la que los guerreros más poderosos mantenían como trofeo ritualista las cabezas de aquellos a los que derrotaban. Como comenta, "Era casi lo mismo. Estaba capturando la cabeza de toda esta gente. Mantenía su 'escénica' dentro de mi celular y podía manipular su 'esencia' por medio de software 3D."
En cierto modo, Azpeger vincula esta evidencia de control de las personas con la realidad actual a la que nos enfrentamos como individuos: nuestra imagen e identidad se han convertido en objetos moldeables, de los cuales tenemos muy poco control. Como destaca el artista, en un inicio Zurciremos "empezó con varias preguntas que pensaba resolver en Barcelona, pero que en realidad plantearon muchas más preguntas. Es como el tronco de muchas ramificaciones y caminos que uno puede elegir para seguir abordado las ideas iniciales." Con este proyecto exploratorio, Azpeger plantea resolver estas inquietudes, y todas las futuras cuestiones que le vayan surgiendo en su trayectoria artística.
In a community, how close are the bonds of affection, lifestyles, generational crossings, relationships with nature and technology, appreciation of art and its aesthetic values? Is it possible to influence the spaces we co-inhabit from a reassessment of these aspects? To weave ourselves into that abstract cultural fabric that runs through us?
ZURCIREMOS is a proposal that seeks to imagine-create with the neighbors of Nau Bostik a visual horizon of its own; crossed by the dialogues on the common memory, the encounters with the singularities of its inhabitants and with the images they produce of themselves, both individually and collectively.
AZPEGER
During his residence in Barcelona, to create the pop-up show Zurciremos, the artist has worked mainly with the use of 3D portraits of people around him. It started out as a spontaneous proposal, but he ended up relating it to the ancestral practice of the Shuar culture of Ecuador, a tradition in which the most powerful warriors kept the heads of those they defeated as a ritualistic trophy. As he comments, "It was almost the same thing. I was capturing the heads of all these people. I was keeping their 'scenic' inside my cell phone and I could manipulate their 'essence' through 3D software."
In a way, Azpeger links this evidence of control of people with the current reality we face as individuals: our image and identity have become moldable objects, over which we have very little control. As the artist points out, Zurciremos "started out with several questions that he thought he was going to solve in Barcelona, but which in reality raised many more questions. It is like the trunk of many ramifications and paths that one can choose to continue addressing the initial ideas." With this exploratory project, Azpeger proposes to resolve these concerns, and any future questions that may arise in his artistic trajectory.
